Common Good – Senior Fundraiser
Common Good was founded by Common Ground Church in 2005 as an independent and registered non-profit. Over the years they have grown into multiple teams of development practitioners and specialists. Through their work, they are able to impact thousands of lives in Cape Town and beyond through their Early Life, Education and Employment initiatives. They strongly believe that investing in these three areas, while mobilising the church to live a lifestyle of justice, has the greatest potential for positive change in our society.
Common Good sought a well-seasoned individual with a passion for social justice, who would contribute and uphold the ethos and values set out by them. This incumbent would have experience in nurturing institutional and individual donor relationships, providing strategic input to the fundraising plan and would also have experience working directly with senior management.
The longlist comprised of 57 individuals from well-known non-profit organisations, based both in Cape Town and Johannesburg. All candidates were thoroughly screened, resulting in the selected top 3 who were shortlisted based on their suitability to the specifications of the role and the organisation’s needs.
The appointed candidate was Teagan Schwerin, a seasoned fundraiser with more than 19 years of experience in marketing (10 of which were spent in the NGO sector). Before joining Common Good, she was Head of Fundraising and Communications at The Animal Rescue Organisation where she developed and implemented many of their successful and ongoing fundraising projects. Teagan believes in the values and ethos of Common Good and through her work, is looking forward to creating positive change.
