Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) – Development and Membership Manager
The Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), based in Costa Rica, is a global collaborative network of organizations focused on building a world where agriculture delivers nature conservation and sustainable livelihoods and contributes solutions to the climate crisis. The organisation develops programmes, systems, and tools for their members to work more effectively with farmers, companies, governments, and donors to accelerate and deepen the positive impact they make as partners on a journey of positive change.
SAN partnered with us in their search for a Development and Membership Manager. The Development and Membership Manager would work closely with SAN’s Executive Director in all funding and related membership activities. The incumbent would play a key role as the initiator for SAN’s funding and membership growth plan to support the implementation of the organisation’s new strategic plan for 2019 – 2024.
After an extensive search, the longlist came to 23 candidates, narrowed down to a shortlist of 10 candidates from various countries including the UK, USA, France, and Italy.
Ultimately, California-based Mona McCord was appointed as the new Development and Membership Manager. At the time, Mona was serving as the Director of Agriculture Innovations at the Grameen Foundation. In this role, she was predominantly responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, funders, and industry experts in the development of resilience-focused programming worldwide. Mona has also co-authored a USAID Feed the Future publication, Data-driven Agriculture: The Future of Smallholder Farmer Data Management and Use, which outlines the transformative aspects of digital farmer profile data to support market-led smallholder engagement strategies more efficiently, effectively, and sustainably.
